No authorization code in Kindle/Expired code in used books. This kindle book does NOT include the authorization code. I didn't find this out until a day before class. Luckily the company that built the program has an "alternative" personal use code for $100.00. If you are buying this for a class... DON'T. Buy the hard copy Brand New, or you will regret it.Overall a helpful good if you are taking GIS courses. I rented this book for school and the steps for how to use ArcGIS where informative and very helpful. Ironically the book isn't what caused my any issues it was the program we had to use. The book had the occasional discrepancy between it and the UI for the program ( it can't be helped because the program is updated so obnoxiously often). It was a good book but, it you need to use it I would recommend simply renting it and printing out or taking notes on pages you will need if you need it in your future or regularly in your career.Not bad if you want to teach yourself This is a lab textbook for me but since we don't actually use it in lab... It is considered a homework book by our professor and we don't get any assistance from our lab instructor. Fortunately the book does a decent job walking you through the quite crazy ArcGIS Suite. My version is for 10 but I'm working with 10.1, doesn't seem to be too different to make that an issue. For someone that is adept at learning software this package will throw a curve ball at first but as with any new field and software more use means it becomes much easier and eventually intuitive. Which is great if you have the worst TA ever in lab. ;^)If you want to understand what you're doing and why I think a formal course with this tutorial is best. If you're just learning new stuff because you haven't used ArcGIS since an older version it will serve the purpose. Bonus the book comes with a 1 year copy of ArcGIS (10 in this version). Can't beat that for the price of the book.

A very important book for any thinker or leader I have been waiting for this book for 20 years. Too often, leaders of businesses and nonprofits are unaware of the many ways of seeing the world, of using different lenses. The book is not just about data and (clearly described, intuitive) math, it is about thinking logically and better understanding every aspect of the world. It should go beside Lars Skyttner's book on Systems Theory and the books Turning Numbers into Knowledge and Data Science for Business on the thinking person's bookshelf. It is never too late to exercise your brain!think outside the box inside the model Scott Page is a political scientist, but he's perhaps become best known as an advocate of social science models. This book is a great guide to models, why they're useful, and how that can help in your work. The models range from relatively simple game theoretic concepts and collective action problems to Markov chains and networks. Page manages to make all of this accessible to readers without dumbing the concepts down. This is one of those books that you might read through once, but will probably better serve you as a reference book you'll consult every once in a while if and when you encounter new problems. Beautiful photos, but I really wish the captions were included. Beautiful photos. They are quite tightly packed, but I appreciate the sentiment of trying to fit as many of these amazing dogs into the book. I didn't have trouble flipping through, even with the quantity of photos. I was, however, very disappointed that the captions for the photos aren't included. I would have much preferred fewer images with their respective text descriptions. The Dogist is my favorite Instagram account, and I purchased this book for my dad specifically because I knew he would love and appreciate the captions as much as I do. He'll still like the photos, but it's just not the same. Perhaps that's my fault for not doing more research before purchasing. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but still a beautiful book.Dogist captures the real spirit of evey dog, amazing collection that always cheers us up! What an amazing collection of dogs! We are dog lovers in our family and I gave this book to my daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves it so much! She remarked "I will never be sad again, as I can always look at this book and it will cheer me up!' She has been keeping it by her bedside and looks at often. Our dog is getting jealous of the book as my daughter looks at it so much and makes those "awwww" noises that he feels are reserved for him!Some reviewers have commented that less is more and would have liked larger photographs instead of pages chock full of dogs, but when I received the book I realized that it's all themed. There are pages with dogs with eyes closed, some of dogs with those extra long tongues, some in pairs. Each page brings on fresh oohs and aahs. I love looking at the individual dogs on the themed pages, they're all so adorable. Elias Friedman has done an extraordinary job in capturing the dog's spirit. It brings forth so much emotion from me, and I want to go meet them all.They say your stress levels are much lower if you have a dog and regularly interact with it. That's certainly true, but this book is like a massive stress reliever too!I love all dog books I love all dog books, so you could say I loved this one too. The pictures are really great and for someone just flipping pages this might be a 5-star book. But all there is (except for dog name and breed) is lots of pictures of dogs. Which is nice, but as a dog lover, I wanted more. Just look at the dog's face on the cover, you want to know more about him... this book just isn't that. So 3 stars, I just liked this book as "just okay".
