Excellent collection of first reader books for 4-5 year olds I've also read the level A and B First Little Readers with my kids. They love these books. The books have a great progression of reading levels. They increase in complexity enough to gently challenge my kids, but not enough to discourage them. And, the stories are really cute and pictures are bright and colorful and help illustrate the harder words. I started this series with my kids when they turned 4. I will definitely continue with this series.Good variety of stories These are perfect for kindergarten readers. Easy words, short sentences, only a few pages, and bright pictures that help with the words. The only complaint is these are really thin. The paper and the covers are not very sturdy so these aren't for kids that won't be careful.Beware of the price. These are really only worth about fifty cents per book.Best Beginning Reader Boxset! I have a soon to be first grader who needs more reading practice at home and these books are just the thing. The A, B, C levels are spot on and there are enough stories in each pack (25) to keep him from getting bored. Pictures help with context and give clues to words he doesn't know, but not everything in the story. He still has to read it. A great box set for any beginning reader. I would buy these again and recommend them to family and friends!

An unforgettable memoir about a young girl who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home.

“Beautiful and propulsive . . . Despite the singularity of [Tara Westover’s] childhood, the questions her book poses are universal: How much of ourselves should we give to those we love? And how much must we betray them to grow up?”—Vogue

“Westover has somehow managed not only to capture her unsurpassably exceptional upbringing, but to make her current situation seem not so exceptional at all, and resonant for many others.”—The New York Times Book Review

A Must-Read for Anyone Who Grew Up with Narcissistic Parents I highly recommend this book about a girl whose childhood began on a beautiful mountain in a narrow world created by her father’s anti-establishment mindset of fear, insanity, and control and ended when she decided to venture out into the wider world and research the facts for herself. Will she come home? Can she come home? Or will home be more damaging to her spirit than the broader dangerous world her father fears? I will try not to give spoilers, but most of the information in this review was provided by the book’s author in interviews. It’s not the bare facts which are so fascinating, but the story itself and how it plays out. If you’ve ever been gaslighted, scapegoated or lied about by your own family, you will find in Tara Westover a true kindred spirit. The title of this book might give the impression it’s merely about going to school. While the author’s lack of primary education is offset by her future ability to earn a doctorate at Cambridge, her education about society and the world outside her family is just as important as her rise academically. You might say Tara Westover’s education started while she was very young. Her life began on an Idaho mountain with survivalist parents. A father who distrusts the government and runs an ever-spreading scrap yard. A mother who is practically coerced by her husband to become a midwife. Born the youngest in a family of seven, her mother must’ve burned out on homeschooling by the time Tara came along because she didn’t get much book learning. Her first level of education included prepping with her family for the time of desolation, dodging her father’s careless flung scrap metal while she does child labor in his junkyard and accompanying her mother to home births. Tara’s early survivalist education includes learning how to survive her parents’ ignorant choices and a bullying older brother—all of which are much greater threats than her father’s perceived threats of the government taking over their lives. Her parents rarely leave the mountain. They are home-birthers, home-schoolers, anti-vaxers, anti-establishment and anti-medical care. In a nutshell, her father seems nutso—more like a deranged lunatic with a massive stockpile of weapons than a father.Tara’s mother appears to be her husband’s enabler as she meekly follows suit and rationalizes his unhealthy choices even when they threaten her safety and the health of her children. As a matter of fact, for a woman who eventually created a lucrative business by claiming to be a healer by designing her own line of essential oils, her mother’s only safety instinct seems to be to protect the family secrets. As Tara watched the insanity and chaos of her parents’ poor choices, she had one example of life beyond the mountain. One older brother left home and went to college. He encouraged her to do the same. This book is about her quest to get out from under her father’s control—first physically, then emotionally and eventually spiritually. This process didn’t happen overnight. As anyone who has grown up under a narcissistic parent and knows what it’s like to be bullied and gaslighted will find it easy to relate to Tara’s journey. This memoir is the story of a girl who was thirsty for knowledge, got a sip of real truth and refused to drink the kool-aid any longer. It’s the story if being scapegoated and gaslighted until she questions her sanity. It’s sad, but this book is also about the loss of siblings who would prefer to vote the family line than treat their sister as a friend. It’s also a story of triumph about the girl who escaped the box she was expected to stay in and become the one who got away from all the drama and insanity of her family of origin. It’s incredible that Tara Westover succeeded in getting a doctorate from Cambridge, but even more amazing is her social education and how she eventually transformed like Pygmalion and was able to self-differentiate from her parents and choose the life she desired for herself. This book is an exciting read. I read it around the clock within two days. It’s also complicated enough to provoke intellectual discourse about what it means to be faithful to oneself and how loyalty to family plays out against self-worth and self-knowledge.This memoir is the fourth book I’ve reviewed about a woman raised in a fundamentalist Mormon family. The first three were all brought up in polygamous households, but Tara only had two parents who kept their family in the local ward despite her father’s concerns about the Illuminati infiltrating the mainstream Mormon church. This family looks Mormon from the outside, but a more sinister agenda lies under the surface. She makes it clear this is NOT a book about Mormons but rather the head-spinning tale of a dysfunctional family. She reminds us that most Mormons send their children to public school and go to the doctor when it seems necessary. The fundamentalist vibes which are all there, under a cloak of self-righteousness, could be manifested within any denomination or cult. The only thing that made this book uncomfortable for me to read was the descriptions of the terrible injuries this family continually sustained due to the father’s stupidity. I constantly cringed at these stories much like I would while watching a show about life-threatening emergencies. Even worse, her father truly believed all these near death injuries were ordained by his arbitrary version of God. It was all I could do to keep from screaming. Such vivid descriptions were necessary though for the reader to understand what Tara had to endure. It’s not much of a spoiler to say Tara is eventually going to go no contact with some of her family members. She has told this in interviews. What is impressive about Tara is that she shows no bitterness. She loves her parents and family but has chosen to separate from them as a boundary for her sanity. Or did they shun her first? As in most narcissistic family survivor stories, it’s often hard to tell. This memoir is a true survival story about surviving a survivalist mindset. This book is the tale of narcissistic, emotional and spiritual abuse and one girl’s victory in becoming herself despite being vilified and gaslighted. My favorite quote from the book sums up Tara’s journey,“I am not the child my father raised, but he is the father who raised her.” -Tara WestoverTara’s story is a victory of education, but even more, it’s a triumph of her courage to rise up beyond the mountain—the only home she ever had to find her authentic home within herself. Bravo Tara Westover! You are an amazing survivor! Thank you for documenting your often painful journey so the rest of us can know that although our stories may vary, we are not alone.

Ninth House Pdf

ISBN: 1250313074
Title: Ninth House Pdf
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Published Date: 2019-10-01
Page: 448

An Amazon Best Book of October 2019: Leigh Bardugo made her mark writing bestselling young adult fantasy, but now she’s doing something a little different with Ninth House, her first adult novel. Bardugo uses Yale’s secret societies—their hidden rituals and the power of membership—to create the perfect setting for a story where elitism and the occult are intertwined. In Ninth House we meet Alex Stern, a young woman with nothing left to lose, who is given a strange second chance at a different life—as a freshman at Yale. Alex has been selected to attend not for her academic achievement, but rather to perform a dangerous task for which she is uniquely qualified: finding out who among the secret societies is resurrecting ancient dark magic. Ninth House is an epic read--sharp, dark, and incredibly atmospheric, with a gutsy protagonist and a conclusion that leaves the reader eager for more. --Seira Wilson, Amazon Book Review "Ninth House is the best fantasy novel I’ve read in years, because it’s about real people. Bardugo’s imaginative reach is brilliant, and this story―full of shocks and twists―is impossible to put down." - Stephen King"Ninth House is one of the best fantasy novels I’ve read in years. This book is brilliant, funny, raw and utterly magnificent ― it's a portal to a world you’ll never want to leave." - Lev Grossman, New York Times bestselling author of The Magicians "Ninth House is the best thing I’ve read in a long time. There’s so much magic here that you'll begin to feel it seeping into the room around you as you read, and characters so real you ’ll practically hear their voices in your ear. Leigh Bardugo has written a book so delicious, so twisty, and so immersive I wouldn’t blame you for taking the day off to finish it." - Kelly Link, author of Magic for Beginners and Get in Trouble."Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House rocked my world. I could not get enough of sinewy, ghost-haunted Alex Stern, a heroine for the ages. With a bruised heart and bleeding knuckles, she risks death and damnation ― again and again ― for the people she cares about. I was cheering her on the whole way: from the first brilliant sentence of this book to the last. More, please, Ms. Bardugo." - Joe Hill, New York Times bestselling author of NOS4A2 "In this mesmerizing novel, Leigh Bardugo introduces us to Alex, a high-school dropout who gets a free ride to Yale because of a unique talent. Bardugo's New Haven is plausible and frightening, and I was one rapt reader." - Charlaine Harris, bestselling author of the True Blood series"With an aura of both enchantment and authenticity, Bardugo's compulsively readable novel leaves a portal ajar for equally dazzling sequels." - Kirkus Reviews (starred review) "Atmospheric...Part mystery, part story of a young woman finding purpose in a dark world." - Booklist (starred review) "Genuinely terrific...The worldbuilding is rock solid, the plot is propulsive, and readers will be clamoring for a sequel as soon as they read the last page." - Library Journal (starred review)"Excellent...Bardugo gives [her protagonist] a thoroughly engaging mix of rough edge, courage and cynicism." - Publishers Weekly (starred review)"Instantly gripping...Creepy and thrilling...The world of this book is so consistent and enveloping that pages seem to rush by." - BookPage (starred review) “Simultaneously elegant and grotesque, eerie and earthbound...Wry, uncanny, original and, above all, an engrossing, unnerving thriller.” - The Washington Post

The mesmerizing adult debut from Leigh Bardugo, a tale of power, privilege, dark magic, and murder set among the Ivy League elite

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Still searching for answers, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. Their eight windowless “tombs” are the well-known haunts of the rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street’s biggest players. But their occult activities are more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive. They tamper with forbidden magic. They raise the dead. And, sometimes, they prey on the living.

Alex Stern, the unexpectedly relatable love-child of Veronica Mars, Julia Wicker, and Jessica Jones Lev Grossman said of this book, "it's a portal to a world you'll never want to leave." I hope he was talking about a different book, because the book I just read had ghost rape, wildly corrupt authorities, horrifying reveals that would impress Christopher Nolan, and more blood and gore than Carrie at the prom. If that's all cool with you, however, this book is almost a relief to read, because it avoids the more irritating tropes of the horror genre (sl*t-shaming, inter-racial violence, fridging, etc.) in favor of a smart, funny, alarmingly relatable series of characters who handle their sh** in a world constantly ready to give them more. (Okay, there's a tiny bit of fridging. It's complicated.)I read that Leigh Bardugo was a member of the Wolf's Head society when she attended Yale in real life. In this book, Wolf's Head practices shape-shifting magic where the object is to take on the body of an animal but retain human consciousness and intelligence. Maybe that's why this story sometimes seems to be a metaphor for/magical primer on surviving the brutality of the world by taking on the "shape" of a much stronger creature, while still keeping hold of your humanity. It's a great message regardless of who it's coming from, but as Professor Belbalm notes, "Calamity comes too easily to women. Our lives can come apart in a single gesture, a rogue wave." Bardugo writes Alex with such vivid vulnerability and desperation that her snarky bitchiness and moments of sweetness are impressive accomplishments rather than weakness of character. I don't typically like horror stories, but I think I might love this book.Okay Ms. Bardugo, I know you're busy, but when do you think we can get our favorite gentleman out of his jam?Bad, just bad Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of Bardugo and have loved her previous work. The ninth house was a pre order months in advance and I couldn't wait to start it. It even had a promising start, confusing, but promising. Yale, magic, backstories of people evolving etc. Yet the book became more and more a joke the further I got. The plot kept changing, our protagonist being able to overcome things she shouldn't be and the pace was set so high for her, that my own head started spinning from it. It was too much, every single bit was too much. From the "ground zero" story line and her back story, to her "roommates" (really why even keep that in the story, complete side track) to having 5 story lines combined into one book. It was way way too much and in my opinion made it bad. This idea she had was great, I just wish someone had told Bardugo to take another year and start editing as much as possible OUT of it. All in all, disappointed and do not recommend. Pick up any of her other books, especially the six of crows duo logyDisappointed I didn’t regret buying the Six of Crows duology in hardcover, but I sure regret buying Ninth House in hardcover. There’s a reason most of the praise blurbs on the cover are from horror writers. And I read an interview with the author where she said it’s considered adult because of the structure, but I disagree—it’s because of the sex and graphic violence, I'd bet. It reads a lot like early Anita Blake, minus vampires. I don’t know whether it’s an effort to break out of the epic fantasy box to go gritty magical realism, but this is really just another magic at college book. And as far as structure goes, it's told in flashbacks--takes you right out of the story. It’s more about survival and privilege or the lack thereof than growing up, though there is growth. It’s totally young adult. But it’s urban fantasy leaning towards horror, and I see no reason to pay hardcover prices for this book, especially if it manages to become a series.

White House Confidential Download

ISBN: B01HX2W2SK
Title: White House Confidential Pdf The Little Book of Weird Presidential History
An irreverent look at Presidential foibles, follies, fibs, and moral failures

Were past presidents smarter, more honest, and better behaved that those we elect today? Don’t bet on it! White House Confidential shows that commanders-in-chief have been lying, cheating, stealing, and womanizing from the days of the Founding Fathers. Focusing on the qualities that never made it into White House press releases, the authors look at their sexual misdeeds and strange family relationships, scandals that engulfed administrations, fights with enemies, and questionable money matters. Dip into these pages to find out:

Which president was famous for being the richest man alive because of all his brilliant real estate deals?
Which president was born in Canada, and was ineligible to hold the office of president?
Which president caused some problems by trying to grow “strange herbs” in the White House garden?
Which president often ordered White House staff to rub Vaseline into his scalp while he ate breakfast in bed?
Which president often called his deputy chief of staff “Turd Blossom”?

Updated with new material about many presidents including George W. Bush and Barack Obama, White House Confidential will have you laughing (and sometimes cursing!) as you take a second look at the next occupant of the Oval Office.

The US Has Survived Despite Our Presidents I loved the book but it scared me to death! Really??? Those people got elected to be leaders of the free world?! On the other hand, maybe I should be encouraged that the United States survived and thrived in spite of some real idiots.Putting the current fiasco into historical context One slightly reassuring thing about this book is that it shows America has a long history of sending grifters and charlatans to its highest office. In fact, it leaves you with the feeling that the second half of the 20th century was something of an aberration for its string of presidents who were, regardless of your view on their politics and with a few notable exceptions, mostly competent and conscientious.Interesting humorous read. An interesting look at the presidents of the USA. Lesser known facts and funny details made this a light read that you can dip into every now and then.

I also recommend that you check out the "Idea in Brief" section in each article. This will make it easier for you to determine which of the articles are most relevant to your primary needs and interests. Here are four brief excerpts that will, I hope, suggest the thrust and flavor of the extended narrative:*     *     *"The solution to women's lagged advancement is not to fix women or their managers but to fix the conditions that undermine women and reinforce general  stereotypes. Furthermore, by taking an inquisitive, evidence-based approach to understanding behavior, companies can not only address gender disparities but also cultivate a learning orientation and a culture that gives all employees the opportunity to reach their full potential."From What Most People Get Wrong About Men and Women, Catherine H. Tinsley and Robin J. Ely (Page 42)*     *     *"Most activities at the4 human-machine inter face require people to [begin italics] do new and differ ent things [end italics] such as train a chatbot) and to [begin italics] do things differently [end italics] (use that chatbot to provide better customer service). So far, however, only a small number of companies we've surveyed have begun to reimagine their business processes to optimize collaborative intelligence. But the lesson is clear: Organizations that use machines merely to displace workers through automation will miss the full potential of AI. Such strategy is misguided from the get-go. Tomorrow's leaders will instead be those that embrace collaborative intelligence, transforming their operations, their markets, their industries, and -- no less important -- their workforces."From Collaborative Intelligence, H. James Wilson and Paul R. Daugherty (59)*     *     *"In a sense,  today's businesses have become victims of the global economy's immense productivity gains over the past two centuries. Consumers today rely on a dizzying array of products that are manufactured and distributed from all around the world and on services that are delivered with an intensifying frequency. But the apparently effortless  abundance and convenience also make it easy for consumers to take work for granted and for employees to lose out on the learning and motivation that customer connections afford. With that in mind, businesses should stop reflexively hiding their operations for the sake of efficiency and instead thoughtfully consider when and how to open them up to create more value for customers and employees alike."From Operational Transparency, Ryan W. Buell (120)*     *     *"By involving customers and other stakeholders in the definition of the [given] problem and the development of the so0lutions, design thinking garners a broad commitment to changed. And by supplying a structure to the innovation process, design thinking helps innovators collaborate and agree on what is essential to the outcome at every phase. It does this not only by overcoming workplace politics but by shaping the experiences of innovators, and of they key stakeholders and implementers, at ever step. [Begin italics] That [end italics] is social technology at work."From Why Design Thinking Matters, Jeanne Liedtka (191)*     *     *Obviously, no brief commentary such as mine can do full justice to the scope and depth of valuable information, insights, and counsel provided in this volume. I agree with the HBR Editors: These articles really do offer "the definitive management ideas of the year from Harvard Business Review."Here are two points of my own. First, there are no leadership or management issues. Rather, ultimately, there are only [begin italics] business [end italics] issues. Also, it is very important to think in terms of enterprise architecture as your organization's primary strategy when reinventing how to accelerate personal growth and professional development.

"The last thing I expected to do while reading this colorful and celebratory book for youth was cry, but as I went through each page I found myself with tears streaming down my face. Tears for my "past pre-teen self" who finally, after twenty years, felt seen... and tears for the next generation of amazing humans who will have this extraordinary guidebook (and Sonya) to hold their hand while explaining how their bodies are undeniably remarkable in every way."—Jes Baker, Body Positive Activist, author of Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls and Landwhale"Celebrate Your Body is a wonderful book full of wisdom and affirmation for young girls at a time when their lives are fraught with change. Thank you, Sonya Renee, for writing a book about puberty that is both informative and joyous! What a gift! A must read for the tweens in all of ourlives."—Deb Hauser, President, Advocates for Youth"This book exemplifies the love and care that is necessary to help young people grow into healthy adults. As an educator, I am privy to unfortunate outcomes of miseducation when talking about puberty. Sonya has managed to create an experience of celebration through her thoughtful approach to delivering the facts about puberty in a way that can help girls feel proud of their bodies and the puberty experience."―Patrick Smith Director of Education, Equity & Inclusion, Planned Parenthood Southeastern PennsylvaniaSONYA RENEE TAYLOR is the Founder and Radical Executive Officer of TheBodyIsNotAnApology.com, a digital media and education company committed to radical self-love and body empowerment as the foundational tool for social justice and global transformation. Sonya is also an international award-winning performance poet, activist, speaker, and transformational leader whose work continues to have global reach. Sonya and her work have been seen, heard, and read on HBO, BET, MTV, TV One, NPR, PBS, CNN, Oxygen Network, New York Times, New York magazine, MSNBC.com, Today.com, Huffington Post, Vogue Australia, Shape.com, Ms. Magazine, and many more.

Puberty comes with a lot of changes. Celebrate Your Body (And Its Changes, Too!) will help girls understand (and love) their bodies now and as they continue to grow.

For many girls, puberty can be an uncertain time. Celebrate Your Body (And Its Changes, Too!) includes everything girls need to know about breasts and bras, their period, hair here and there, feelings and friends, and so much more. This book will guide them as they learn about (and celebrate) their amazing, changing, one-of-a-kind bodies―during puberty and beyond!

Among puberty books for girls, Celebrate Your Body offers encouraging support while answering real questions that girls have about puberty. Positive, judgment-free, and medically accurate, this book discusses puberty in a way to which young girls can relate.

Celebrate Your Body offers essential insight such as:

  • An overview of puberty that explains what happens, when it happens, and how she’ll know
  • Explanations of changes in body, mood, and relationships―and how to confidently approach these changes that occur in puberty
  • Practical advice for navigating new situations during puberty―from understanding growth spurts to managing overwhelming emotions to staying safe on social media

Complete with current, accessible medical information, Celebrate Your Body offers a fresh take on this whole “puberty” thing that will leave girls feeling informed, empowered, and ready for the changes that lie ahead.

This is the book you need. I was going to purchase a different but well - known book about puberty for my daughter, but read quite a number of negative reviews about how that book gave their daughters insecurities about their bodies... which is what I was trying to avoid by purchasing such a book! Celebrate Your Body is the complete opposite! It's informative in a helpful, kind, and realistic way. I highly recommend this book for any parent/guardian of a pre-teen girl.LOOK NO FURTHER for an inclusive, straightforward, age-appropriate, positive guide to puberty! I've researched dozens & dozens of books for my 10y.o niece, and 'Celebrate Your Body' is EXACTLY what I was looking for!Everything in Sonya Renee Taylor's approach is positive and encouraging. She acknowledges many colors and body types and provides just the right amount of detail for a tween/pre-teen reader.*Every other book I researched in this genre had an inordinate focus on appearance & traditional notions of beauty.* Something I wanted to avoid. They also, without exception, addressed interest in "boys" - excluding anyone who might not be interested in boys & reinforcing the confusion they may be feeling about not being "normal." To be clear, the book doesn't encourage or even go into detail on this topic, it simply refers to developing feelings for "someone" using generic pronouns. This is just one example of Sonya Renee Taylor's subtle approach to inclusiveness & cultural sensitivity. If you're looking for an encouraging, straightforward, medically accurate, inclusive guide for your 9-12y.o, This. Is. Your. Book.Adult readers: If you haven't already checked out the author's other book, "The Body Is Not An Apology," I highly recommend doing so. Sonya Renee Taylor is a gift to Humanity ♡A MUST READ FOR GIRLS WHO HAVE STARTED PUBERTY YOUNG My daughter started the puberty train ( as Sonya describes it) when she was about 5. I noticed her leg hairs were getting darker and at the time, I didn't think much about it. And then around 6 it was confirmed by her doctor. She is now 7 and has started growing hair.. now there was no more pushing the talk. After tremendous research and reading countless reviews, I finally settled for this book and I couldn't be more happy with my decision. First and I think most importantly, the book has such a positive outlook on a girls body and the changes they will experience. Second and what I also feel is important, the author often mentions that this changes can come earlier for some girls while later for other girls. I love that she mentions that girls can start as early as 5 or 6. As a mother of a child starting puberty at a young age, it is very important for my child to hear it's very normal from an outside source.I also like that this book didn't cover sexual intercourse and topics related to intercourse because my child is still too young for that talk and I don't have to worry about her stumbling across that in the book. The book was written simply enough that it was easy to understand and felt like you were having a conversation. Younger readers will be able easily follow along. So that goes without saying that this book just just an introduction to their body's and will need another book to cover the other half of the puberty train.

Losing Leah Holloway (A Claire Fletcher and Detective Parks Mystery) Download

ISBN: 1503942996
Title: Losing Leah Holloway (A Claire Fletcher and Detective Parks Mystery) Pdf
Author: Lisa Regan
Published Date: 2017-10-17
Page: 382

Lisa Regan, the author of Finding Claire Fletcher, is a bestselling suspense novelist and a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, and International Thriller Writers. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education from Bloomsburg University, works full-time as a paralegal, and lives with her husband and daughter in Philadelphia, where she writes books while waiting in line at the post office. Readers can learn more about her work at www.lisaregan.com.

Five years ago, Claire Fletcher escaped her abductor. But some scars never fade, and surviving was just the beginning…

When Claire sees a car full of children careen into a river, she rushes to the rescue. But the driver, a mother named Leah Holloway, prefers to drown. For Claire and her ex, Detective Connor Parks, it doesn’t add up. What would motivate a woman with a beautiful family and a successful career to resort to such unspeakable extremes? What Connor finds out confirms Claire’s suspicions of something dreadful behind Holloway’s picture-perfect facade: a link between the terrified mother and a serial strangler targeting Sacramento soccer moms.

As Claire and Connor are drawn back together, their investigation leads them to unearth everything Holloway was hiding. What they find could be the only way to stop a killer from striking again.

A hold onto your seat kind of read! As a very early reader of Finding Claire Fletcher, I knew from the first few pages Lisa Regan was a thrill writer unlike any we’ve seen in recent memory. I never dreamed I would one day see a second book involving Claire, but you can bet I was one of the first ones to get my hands on it. As expected, Ms. Regan did NOT disappoint me with the second installment of Claire and Connor. Let me tell you, the book opens with a bang and the pace is strong, fast-paced, twisted, and beautiful all the way to the end.Five years after being rescued from her abductor, Claire has a new life. She’s finding her way back from the ordeal, check that, hell, she went through, and trying to live a normal life. She went to the river with her dog and her sister for a little R&R, but what she got was embroiled in a mystery that would once again endanger her life, and require her to work with her ex, Detective Connor Parks.I’ve always thought Claire and Connor’s attraction was off the charts, and it was no different in this book, though it was a slow, deliberate advancement of their relationship. The author wrote their love story the only way it could be told; beautifully damaged, but worth fighting for.Amid the story of Claire’s return to society is the story of Leah Holloway and her children. Why would a presumably happy woman, a mother who seems to have it all, try to kill her own children, not to mention the neighbor’s children. It wasn’t adding up and Connor was tasked with figuring out why before more women died.Lisa Regan’s books are hard to review because almost every part of the book I want to include here would be considered a spoiler, and I refuse to give spoilers. Ms. Regan is a modern-day Mary Higgins Clark with a side of dark psychological thrill writing like that of Dean Koontz. You will never be disappointed in any of Ms. Regan’s books, but don’t take my word for it. You can read Losing Leah Holloway without reading Finding Claire Fletcher first, but I encourage you to read both, you won’t regret it!If you liked Finding Claire Fletcher you're going to love this sequel If you liked Finding Claire Fletcher you're going to love this sequel. The story picks up a few years later and continues Claire's saga as she gets drawn into the mystery of a car going over an embankment into a river, killing all the passengers. The characters are fleshed out well, the mystery holds you until the end. A not-to-be-missed book!Fantastic - Must Read!! This story picks you up at the beginning and doesn't let you go until the last page. Wow! I couldn't put it down (I became angry when my family actually expected me to sit down to eat with them - lol) This is one of the best books I've read in forever. 5++++++ from me!
